    Sparking a Global Movement In late May 2020, the world collectively witnessed the murder of George Floyd in a revolting case of police brutality. The events in Minnesota, and many similar others in North America (Breonna Taylor, Jacob Blake, Ahmaud Arbery, Tony McDade, and others whose stories continue to be neglected), placed a spotlight on existing racial injustices worldwide and sparked a global movement unlike any other in history. In the United States, over 26 million Americans participated in more than 4700 demonstrations across all 50 states in the month of June alone, making it the largest movement in U.S. history.
